When I had to memorize that poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, in Mrs. Gollon’s ninth grade English class, it had little meaning to me.  Today, having lived on this earth for 39 years and experiencing many of life’s nuances, I have a much different perspective on Frost’s poetic masterpiece.

I have chosen a few different roads throughout my life, some great decisions and some not so great decisions.  Nevertheless, the journey has brought me to where I am today.  I pride myself in going a little bit against the grain at times.  One look at me and my family, and you could say we are a very untraditional crew.  First of all, we are a blended family with seven, yes seven, children.  As if that’s not enough, we are also a multi-racial family.

My wife, Esther, and I are a perfect example of opposites attracting.  She was born in Haiti, and I in Ohio.  I spent my childhood and a few years of adulthood in Ohio before choosing one of those roads Robert Frost talked about, and moving to Florida.  Esther, on the other hand, spent the first 12 years of her life in Haiti before making the jump to South Florida.  And then you have the whole skin tone thing, which qualifies as opposite, but I love it!

So that’s us in a very little nutshell.   The goal of this blog is to provide support, encouragement,  motivation, and even entertainment as we share our journey together as a family in:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

Stay tuned![/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
